It's awesome to see another new ActivityPub project in development!
Lemmy is a federated reddit alternative. I'm not sure if it federates yet, but I'm sure its on the roadmap #fediverse #activityPub

PixelFed is a free open federated alternative to Instagram.
There are lots of different instances you can sign up at, for example:
https://pixelfed.de
https://pxlfd.me
https://pix.diaspodon.fr
https://shared.graphics
https://pixelfed.fedilab.app
It is part of the ActivityPub-powered Fediverse, so you can follow PixelFed accounts from Mastodon etc. For example: @earth
You can follow the project's latest news at @pixelfed

Thank you to everyone who supported the project and spread the word.
I think 2019 will be the year of next generation fediverse projects like Anfora, Funkwhale, Go-Fed, PeerTube, Pixelfed, Plume, Prismo, Pterotype and WriteFreely. #activityPub #fediverse #federation
Metro (Instagram), Micro (Tumblr) and Moment (500px/Flickr) UIs have been in development for months.
I have come to realize that MicroUI was a mistake, MetroUI is the priority and MomentUI is long overdue.
Do one thing right. #pixeldev #photoSharing #fediverse
So @keybase is not going to bother with micro/family instances (e.g. <5 users). Great.
Careful Fediverse, "centralization"-first is coming. Or at least "large-instances-first".
Keybase recommends to use the website verification for those small instances, fine, but this won't support the encrypted messages that were proudly announced 7 paragraphs before.

In case you missed it, the lead developer of open federated Reddit-alternative @prismo has put up a new flagship instance:
This replaces the previous instance (prismo.news) which suffered a major database failure.
You'll have to sign up if you want to post or upvote, but you can follow users and comment on posts from elsewhere on the Fediverse.
yo so for the #fediverse heads who wanna get into #indieweb stuff too, we got a summit coming up! https://2019.indieweb.org/summit
(it'll be in Portland but it'll be available online as well in real time - hopefully but usually lol)
Hello Fediverse!
What are some good community hashtags on here that people might want to know about?
For example:
#introductions - post a bit about yourself and your interests, so that people can welcome you to the Fediverse
#activitypub #fediverse Does anything / anyone support and see use of #Salmon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salmon_%28protocol%29 to their sites?
Microblog.pub is an extremely lightweight single user blogging system which is ActivityPub compatible:
You can follow development at:
You can see the code at:
https://github.com/tsileo/microblog.pub
It's still in alpha testing and not recommended for self-hosting yet, but thought some of you may be interested in following the project.
If you're looking for people to follow on here, try #Trunk:
https://communitywiki.org/trunk
It's an opt-in directory of users who are looking for followers, organised by topic. (People are only listed if they actively ask to be listed.)
Just go to the list you want (e.g. https://communitywiki.org/trunk/grab/Musicians ) and click on people to see their profiles. To follow them, click on "follow".
To be added or removed, message one of the admin accounts listed on Trunk's front page.
With #Nextcloud Social you can connect to the #Fediverse including users on Mastodon and other servers! This alternative, decentralized social network is fun for home users and can help businesses improve internal cohesion.

If you want to have a Medium-style text-based blog that people can follow on the Fediverse, you might want to try these:
Plume:
https://joinplu.me
Write Freely
https://writefreely.org
https://writefreely.org/instances
You can either join an existing instance, or set up your own.
They federate with ActivityPub-based networks such as Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica etc. so you can follow their blogs the same way you would follow a person.
like I said this a while back but I want to be able to sell things over the #fediverse. all of y'all producing art and work should be able to sell those things from here! commissions coming _directly_ from the fediverse or copywriting galore!
I def do encourage the #fediverse to embrace and make use of #microformats whenever you can as opposed (or at least in conjunction to) to using things like Open Graph (Facebook's 'standard') or Twitter Card definitions (Twitter's 'standard') when it comes to exporting metadata.
We shouldn't be relying on them to mark up the semantic bits of our information.
ayo #fediverse
name some VPS providers y'all are into to.
I use DigitalOcean and Linode but I'm experimenting with others (for another project to be VPS-agnostic)
that's (personally) my litmus test for the #fediverse / decentralized tools. how coupled is the act of creation from the act of consuming content?
You can add your WordPress site to the Fediverse by installing an ActivityPub plugin.
This lets anyone on Mastodon etc follow your site, comment on posts and share them on the Fediverse.
There are two WordPress ActivityPub plugins available right now:
Pterotype
https://getpterotype.com/
@jdormit
AP for WordPress
https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub/
@pfefferle
An example of a WordPress site using Pterotype is WeDistribute:
