Sadly, the legal problems around the #GDPR didn't disappear, however, it was found the risk is low for our organization as we target local residents to the Western NY area and lack any multi-national presence.

I live in a small rural city known for oil, farming and cowboys. None of my friends know how to code or are interested in open source. No hacker spaces here either.

The fediverse has introduced me to a diverse group of people that I wouldn't have met otherwise. I've made a few friends here and I'm really glad to be a part of this. #fediverse

This is more of a platform for the people than any existing social network I have seen.

When you have equality in every aspect and feature, it really makes a difference. #fediverse

My hero in this regard is @Gargron. He built a huge community and revitalized the fediverse at a crucial time and I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.

He is very open to feedback and despite some criticism, has moved the fediverse forward in the best interest of the users and not some VC funded company.

It is in the best interest of the fediverse that we work together. #activitypub #fediverse
