I have tested #TheDesk and #Tootle as my potential desktop #Mastodon / #Fediverse clients.

TheDesk is... unusuable on a basic level, due to half of the menus and controls being only in Japanese, plus the interface is cluttered and weird.

Tootle is too minimal. I miss the column layout.

Why can't we have nice things?..

@Gargron I can see how that sucks, especially on a personal note for yourself.

On the other hand, few things unite the #Fediverse more than a "Mastodon is dead" wannabe BuzzFeed article.

This line from the opening of the #Mastodon is crumbling essay that's been circulating the discourse made me giggle:

"A follower feed filled with more than 31 users updates at a snail’s pace."

wut?

Also, if she thinks the #fediverse is apolitical, she's in a *very* different corner of it than I am...

Finally working on my #IndieAuth solution called Fortress! It'll live under the @blackaf collection of services. There's a few things I'm hoping to have it support #Fediverse services that expose OAuth2 provider logic!

Do I know anyone on here that uses https://glitch.com?

I wish that images were scaled down from remote resources on the #fediverse. Sending the whole actual image isn't friendly on clients. Being able to report a max size or max dimension for a resource / type could be cool.

And it's not the fault of Mastodon - it's widely used. It's just the first thing that comes to mind when people seem to think about the #fediverse.

Which sucks because it's like the USA / America thing.

We need a logo for the #fediverse because when people equate #Mastodon to the entirety of the #fediverse like how @nextcloud did with that image at the bottom, we have a problem https://github.com/nextcloud/social

This is an excellent idea. In order to insure interoperability and prevent "it works nicely for X but I didn't test on Y"; FENAS launched https://testsuite.feneas.org/ so you can see if a service can read your information.

This way, every added #fediverse project can see if we can interop and communicate with one another!

Let me just mention that this change actually *removed* Google+ button on @OCCRP website and added #Mastodon / #Fediverse one.

This is where we at in 2018, we are replacing proprietary, closed, centralized walled gardens with community-driven, federated, open federated social networks.

We need more mobile / native experiences for the #IndieWeb / #Fediverse. Since PWAs aren't fully mainstream, having people use them is rough. We need more people looking into iOS / Android / mobile solutions for #Fediverse applications
