Not so interested in DAO's but this seems like a good explainer: https://blockchainhub.net/dao-decentralized-autonomous-organization/
The practical appeal seems to be, essentially, automated bookkeeping...?

Huh, #DNS over #blockchain (or more general DNS that is based on cryptography)… It's an interesting idea especially for the root DNS servers, but there is a fundamental problem:
Key management.
The article I read used youtube.com as an example. What if an attacker obtains the private key for this domain? He can now control it or even transfer it.
Right now, you can get a court rule that undoes that. But with DoB this would mean everyone has to learn a new domain. Good luck with that…
Blockchain: decentralisation centralised on my coin.
Hint: the core of decentralisation isn’t about having a billion copies of the same database. It’s about a billion people each having their own, unique database.
PS. In a truly decentralised system, no one makes a billion dollars. *watches all the right libertarians make for the door*
PPS. A venture capitalist would never invest in a truly decentralised system. Why? See PS, above.

Blockchain study finds 0.00% success rate and vendors don't call back when asked for evidence
“Though Blockchain has been touted as the answer to everything, a study of 43 solutions advanced in the international development sector has found exactly no evidence of success.”

Man, it seems so bad you’d almost think I’d have a slide warning people about blockchain oil salesmen (they’re almost entirely men) in my talks or something…
How #nextcloud users can benefit from secure storage as offered by #blockchain using technologies like @[email protected] & @[email protected]
The storage-agnostic nature of Nextcloud means you can use these to expand your storage at low cost.

JUST. USE. A. DATABASE.

(I think #blockchain religious zealots ignore this — at their and our peril. Mutable chains and permissioned chains exist, despite their heretical status. I think these will be much more useful and far more desirable.)
In partnership with @[email protected], Nextcloud will offer a new generation of secure, decentralized storage based on #blockchain. Find out how in the blog, stay tuned for availability in early 2019!

I have absolutely no interest in #bitcoin or #cryptocurrency as a value store or tulip replacement.
Tell me something cool you're doing, or have seen someone doing, with #blockchain that isn't just buying and selling real currencies.
#BLOCKCHAIN!!! Do it! Do it!!
I'm kidding. I am glad that it's being worked on because I do feel that this is a one of the more frustrating things about #ActivityPub integration. It's like having multiple accounts that SHOULD work together, and kind of do, but kind of don't. Even tying accounts together in some way would be preferable. If I post on my #PixelFed account, it automatically posts that content to my Mastodon account? That would work, but the inverse?
If anyone's going to #SXSW this year, here's an almost certainly great talk by a good friend of mine:
#Blockchain is a Godawful, Dangerous, Wasteful Idea

Propelled by the absurd 2016 rise in Bitcoin’s price, it now seems that every startup pitch, every overheard conversation, every future-tech futurist, and every investment prospectus is focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

My goal is to pop some of the hype-bubble and back us all off the edge just a bit.
