    Peoples' treatment of others, peoples' talent are two independent variables... mostly:

    - don't assume that if someone is sarcastic and a jerk, they're talented (the snarkist-is-smart antipattern)
    - don't assume that if someone is talented, they must treat other people well... you'll be surprised how often this is untrue
    - HOWEVER: it's important that talented people *SHOULD* be kind, treat their peers well, because many good things come from *communities*.

      oh also related to #1, if you're a jerk you're stunting your talent. that's not to say you aren't talented, but you will miss out on critical chances to collaborate because people won't want to work with you
