   @krainboltgreene It's not Mastodon, per se. They both implement forms of ActivityPub and ActivityStreams but they're not one-to-one.

     @krainboltgreene I say that not to be snooty btw! I want to help that discovery process a bit.

     So Mastodon does a few things but namely what allows i to communicate with other things like Pleroma, PeerTube, PixelFed, Funkwhale et al is #ActivityPub and #ActivityStreams. Everything else is out of the band and part of its "app" experience.
