Blender 2.80 is now on Flathub:
By the way, there was an update for Riot yesterday.
When you use Gnome Software and have automatic updates for flatpaks activated, it's very likely you have it already installed.
Otherwise, go for it :)
For CLI users: `flatpak update` will do the job.

I've been doing more reading and I think I'm going to push to distribute apps via #Flatpak on #Linux.
Reading about the closed nature of Canonical's/Ubuntu's Snap and https://davelane.nz/reflections-proprietary-software changed my mind
Riot v1.1.1 is on its way to your desktop π
The Flatpak was updated. Just waiting for the build to finish and publishing to flathub.
When Gnome Software is configured properly on your system, you'll just get a notification that Riot was updated in Background as soon as it made it to your system π
For everyone else: Run `flatpak update` tomorrow and it should wait for you to install π
By the way, the Riot 1.1.0 flatpak is on its way π
Just wait for the repository metadata to be updates and things will arrive on your workstation :)
Pro tip: Flathub provides the latest version for most Linux desktop distributions:

Install and play :supertuxkart: π
#OSTree deduplication and delta updates are amazing.
Sure, #Flatpak apps are a bit big as they bundle their librariesβ¦
But then I just updated Totem, a 8.5MB app, and the total download for the update wasβ¦ 1.0KB. π€©
Looking for opinions on Flatpak isolation for #Riot #flatpak.
Right now we only allow write access to the Downloads directory, which causes problem with drag and drop and sending files in general. We currently considering to give access to the entire home directory, but the big question is: Allow writing or read-only access?

When there is one thing I don't want to care about, then it's updates for software installed on my notebook.
Thanks to #Fedora with #dnf and #flatpak this works amazingly well.
I recommend to try that :)
By the way, for those of you who didn't already get the update: Riot 1.0.6 is available as flatpak π
Do you know what's great? When things just work.
Do you know what's even greater? When you merge something, and it causes upgrades on at least a few hundred but maybe a few thousand devices and it just works.
Oh and by the way I merged #Riot 1.0.5 recently which is rolled out to all #flathub users who use it from there :)
Those of you who run an up-to-date Fedora version will get it installed automatically in background. Just great :)

The Riot 1.0.4 flatpak is out π
Given that you run an up-to-date version of Gnome Software, it'll by installed automatically in background π
Otherwise it's time to run `flatpak update`!
I'm now an official maintainer of the Riot flatpak on flathub π
I will try to make sure that we get the latest and greatest version of Riot as flatpak as soon as possible.
@succfemboi If someone contributes support for it, sure!
So far, we decided to focus on #Flatpak for #Linux desktop, #Docker for servers, #Debian debs and #Homebrew for #MacOS to catch as many people as possible with least effort required.
If someone adds support for #Windows, we would highly appreciate this, too!
Do you have experience with #Flatpak? Then we need your help!
We want to package #Repomaker as #Flatpak to make it easier for people to install. We already have a running flatpak and are only missing the final bits. Any help is highly appreciated!
See "Packaging Repomaker as Flatpak" for more information: https://forum.f-droid.org/t/f-droid-roles/4202
Anyone else having their app not update on Flathub? Looks like the last release of Gnomit a few days ago was never deployed and the current one hasnβt been for the past three hours. Not sure how to debug if itβs something Iβve messed up as Iβm not seeing any errors anywhere.
Just looking at the #Flatpak setup guide. I'm quite impressed with how many #Linux distros come with Flatpak support out of the box, or at the very least have it in their distro repos.
